These shoes are lightweight, look slick and have a perfect fit. They are stiffand sturdy but are comfortable straight out of the box. They have excellent traction and the grip is aggressive, enabling you to run on all sorts of different types of terrain. The toe cap is just fab and a neat, protective touch. A clever quick-lace system makes them secure and is easy to use. The Supercross has the right balance: perfect cushioning where you can be adventurous on the type of terrain you choose, but without feeling every single rock or pebble underfoot. If you’re venturing off-road this autumn, these shoes will be a great addition to your kit, and we’re impressed with the pricing, too.

How we test

Our kit is tested by real runners: passionate women with diverse running experiences, from dedicated marathoners to happy plodders. We wear the clothes, run in the shoes and use the tech on our usual runs to see if they go the distance. We then give each piece of kit our star rating. Prices are RRP and correct at time of printing.

The ISOFit lacing enables you to adjust the shoe’s fit perfectly to the foot, for a custom feel. This is also a great cushioned shoe, with a fairly wide toe box and well-padded heels – you feel like you’re wearing slippers, with some support. They bounce along a treadmill well and feel lively, and when outside, they allow for a smooth landing. They have a 4mm heel drop for a natural feel and the cushioning is felt from heel to toe. With their stylish lilac colour scheme and stay-put stretchy laces, they look good and are easy to wear. These shoes would be a good choice for those needing some pronation support.

The price point for these shoes is about right, with a lot of technology squeezed into each shoe. The sock-liner is a bit harder to get into than most, however, once on, the fit is secure and they truly hug your feet (these suit narrow-footed runners as the upper is also relatively narrow). The shoe has some flex, especially under the toes for push-offand the midfoot, balanced with enough support around the toes and heel for protection from uneven surfaces. The chunky lugs are a dream, with ON’s new Missiongrip pattern, and grip is enhanced by the clouds in the outer sole. They feel agile, ideal for faster trail races, as you get a sense of floating over the ground. They don’t stay white for long, though!
