A study of 3,100 women by University College London found nearly 25% who fail to attend cervical screening appointments are unaware the process exists. Those missing appointments were mostly younger women from poor families, or non-English speakers. Researchers suggest women should be contacted by more creative methods, such as social media. You should have a smear test every three years – contact your GP if you’re overdue.
