Courtney Dauwalter destroyed the Western States 100-mile course record to win in an all-time-best performance. She took more than one hour off the record and finished sixth overall in a time of 15:29:33. The usual scorching weather that you get during the Western States, which is based in California, stayed away this year, making for ideal running conditions in the Sierra mountains.
Hannah Cockcroft took her 14th world title in the T34 800m in July in the World Para Athletics Champs in Paris. It was her second win of the champs, as she took gold in the 100m a few days earlier.
Neely Gracey broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest mile with a buggy this summer, in a time of 5:24. Achieved in Colorado, Gracey was racing to break down the stigma that children hold you back from doing things you love. She is a record-breaking professional marathon racer, four times Olympic trials qualifier, running coach, entrepreneur, author, and mum to two young boys.
