|| Not a running location for the faint-hearted ||
The Copper Canyons is the iconic home of the Tarahumara, the original ultra-runners who are renowned for their incredible ability to run long distances. If you’ve read Born to Run, you’ll know who I mean! The Copper Canyons is in remote north Mexico, a good six-hour drive from any civilisation and I was so lucky and grateful to have the opportunity to run there in 2019 for Ultra X Mexico, a five-day, 250K multi-stage ultra-marathon with 13,000m of elevation, starting at 2,500m above sea level. The variety of terrain and landscape made every kilometre of the route exciting. Maybe not a running location for the faint-hearted but it was a truly magical place and experience.
