Self-publishing: Kindle ebooks step by step

Publishing on Kindle is really easy. It’s easier than publishing a paperback book, because you don’t need to worry so much about formatting your pages. Different Kindle readers will have page breaks in different places, depending on text size, type of device used, etc. So things like headers, footers, and page numbers are redundant, and much of the formatting you’d do very carefully for a paperback book isn’t necessary.

Let’s get started.

Set up a KDP account

Do you already have an Amazon account? If you do, sign into Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) using your existing Amazon username and password.

If you don’t have an Amazon account then click ‘Sign up’ on the KDP homepage, type in your email address, and select ‘I am a new customer’. Then enter your name, choose a password, and press ‘Create account’.
