Artificium is a new British small press which aims to support and encourage new as well as established writers. They publish only short works in the journal and anthology imprint, Imprimo, and novellas through their Signo imprint. Editors, Sean Oliver and Alex Swinburn, want to ‘bring together in one publication a selection of new works from the best writers. Writers who deserve to be read. Writers who deserve a wider audience. From the very brief ‘flash’ fiction format, to short stories, serials, and beautifully crafted poetry, an Artificium anthology will showcase writers young and old, established and up-and-coming, and aims to leave a lingering and satisfying impression on the reader.’
There are two ways to submit, either through competitions (see p93) or during open submission periods.
The Imprimo imprint is publishing themed anthologies. There are no genre restrictions but each story must interpret the theme. The first, closing on 30 November, is Time. Submit short fiction, 2,000-6,000 words, and poetry, no more than forty lines.
