All registered Thoroughbreds celebrate their birthday on January 1. This year, it also marks a birthday for Young Rider. Here at your fave horsey mag, we’re celebrating our 25th anniversary. That’s a LOT of posters we’ve printed, and a lot of bedroom walls we’ve decorated! And most importantly, a lot of young riders we’ve helped to take care of their horses and ponies and improve their horsemanship. Maybe even a few future equine vets are reading YR right now! That’s a career many of you are interested in, so for this issue, YR sent photographer Shelley Paulson out on the job with Dr. Marta Powers to share a glimpse of what that’s like.
To keep YR awesome for horse-crazy kids, we also want to know what YOUR world is like. That’s why we started a youth advisory board program. Our advisory board gives us input on the magazine and shares stories you can relate to. We are excited to introduce our 2019 advisory board —turn the page to meet them!
