As a horse-crazy girl, Marta Powers, DVM, dreamed of being a veterinarian. As a still horse-crazy adult, she has her dream job as an equine veterinarian in Minnesota at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services.
Dr. Marta, as her clients call her, fell in love with horses at a very young age and spent much of her youth riding hunter/jumpers. When her own horse became injured and required the services of a specialist, she met Tracy Turner, DVM, who would become her mentor. She worked for Dr. Turner as a veterinary assistant through the end of high school and during the summers while she was in college and veterinary school.
