The ‘James Herriot’ days are long gone — many vets can’t afford a house let alone a practice!
Vets have never needed our support more, according to Justine Shotton, president of the British Veterinary Association. “We’ve got a huge workforce crisis because so many vets are leaving the profession, fewer European colleagues are coming in, and because of covid, things are taking longer,” she said. “The combination of all those things has resulted in a critical storm; vets are burnt out.”
Nicola-Jane Kirby, from Wrexham, Clwyd, had two Border Collies: Tommy and Maxy.
