Louise Shaw knows a thing or two about selling property as she worked in the business for some years before a career switch led to her becoming a transformational coach and healer. ‘I understand the value of property and I know what sells so when it came to putting my flat on the market, I was confident of getting the asking price in a short space of time,’ she explains.
However, she was unimpressed with her local estate agent who insisted on lowering the value, and wanted to charge a ‘scandalous’ 1.75% commission on completion. ‘When he did find buyers he assured me were genuine, they turned out to be time wasters as they didn’t have a mortgage offer in place,’ Louise recalls. Even after switching agents, she remained disenchanted with the traditional selling process, so took her West London flat off the market and decided to go it alone. ‘I felt that the system needed a major shakeup and, when I came across Purple Bricks on the internet, I thought, ‘brilliant – someone’s done it!’
