I can’t get Sadie out of her bedroom now

A new colourful scheme and a change of layout gives Sadie Fishman’s bedroom a fun, new look

Total Cost £2,439

Sadie’s room is now glowing with colour and character too. Yellow spotty wallpaper and playful accessories set the scene for a bright new look. The old broken blinds were replaced with fresh white wooden blinds, flooding the room with light

Good idea!

Coloured suitcases make a great alternative to storage boxes to tidy away toys. Choose different sizes and colours to suit the room and stack them up.

When Sadie Fishman was born seven years ago, her mum Emma, couldn’t get enough pink into the room. ‘I went into overdrive I think and the room just started to look dark and dull,’ Emma explains. As Sadie grew older, she kept asking for a new style until Emma finally gave in. ‘I agreed to change the room because it was looking tired and dated,’ she says. As the room’s quite spacious it had plenty of potential, but Emma had been frustrated with the broken blinds, which made the room feel dark. Sadie’s bed was tucked in the corner by the wardrobe so there was no room for a bedside table either. Emma realised that by moving the main pieces of furniture around, the room would feel more spacious and inviting. ‘I showed Sadie some bedroom ideas on my laptop and we both loved the idea of a bright and sunny yellow colour scheme,’ she smiles. With a few tricks up her sleeve, Emma got to work designing a whole new look and was relieved to get Sadie’s full seal of approval.

About Your Home Magazine

We’re halfway through the year now and summer is in full swing, so there’s no better excuse to get out into the garden. In this month’s issue we’ve got lots of great ideas to help make the most of your time outdoors. On page 36 we take a look at this year’s hottest trends for outdoor living. From classic country style to laid-back coastal blues and tropical brights, you’re sure to find a look you love that will help you create your perfect room outdoors. And, if you’re feeling creative, then try your hand at our brilliant upcycling project (p.62) which transforms an unwanted old bed into a gorgeous garden bench, or stitch up a storm and create our beautiful embroidered hanging storage pockets (p.64). If your beds and borders are looking a little lacklustre, then take inspiration from the latest trend from the RHS show gardens – elegant blue and white is the most beautiful colour combination to make your garden look truly stunning this summer (p.114). We’ve also got a simple step-by-step project (pardon the pun) to help you create a set of rustic log steps in your garden (p.66). The warmer weather also means most of us start to hanker after lighter, fresher meals, so we’ve rustled up some super salad recipes in this month’s food section. The roasted sweetcorn and halloumi salad is my favourite. Finally, we’ve also got some truly inspiring makeovers and real reader homes for you to take a peek at. Enjoy!
