Illustrator Megan Hess has worked with many of the top couture houses around the world but her private passion is for the iconic masters of Italian fashion
Fashion illustrator Megan Hess

There’s something about Italian fashion that is completely captivating – even if you wanted to look away, you couldn’t. Italian design is bold, glamorous and always has something to say. This winning trifecta has seen many Italian fashion houses reach iconic status. Becoming an icon does not happen overnight; behind every success is a long and winding road. This book pays homage to the masters of Italian fashion and their journeys. The ten designers featured here have left a lasting impression on me, inspiring me with their rich histories, incredible collections and ability to tell a story with a garment. I have chosen to highlight some of their most amazing looks from more recent collections, but I love discovering how elements of their pasts are still present in their designs today.

About Italia!

Our writers have travelled around Italy this month to bring you inspiration for your next adventures in 'il bel paese'. Lake Garda is our starting point, an ever-popular destination where quieter corners still remain – if you know where to go. We also head to the hills in Tuscany’s Casentino Forest (whose trees provided the wood for scaffolding to build Brunelleschi’s dome), and if you want to get fit, a healthy spa break in Puglia could be just what you’re looking for.
