Starting Seeds?Which compost do I use?

In this new series, fcekta MiS+ry, keen plot hoWer And {ormer contestant in TV's The Allotment (Wienie, takes us through her ardenin year

Many years ago I learnt the hard way to not use multipurpose compost for everything from seed sowing to indoor and outdoor plants. One type most definitely doesn’t fit all aspects of gardening. When my first seeds failed all those years ago, I checked the seed packet instructions again. I had followed as instructed: depth of sowing, correct growing conditions given and yet I was still scratching my head - what did I do wrong? I went to my local library (yes, many existed back in 2001) and read that where I went wrong was right in the beginning! I shouldn’t blame the seed all the time - lesson learnt.

I trialled three types of seed compost, all equally good for starting all types of seed. Surprisingly, I don’t have a favourite as I consider all three to be amazing.
