WHY NOT START A GARDENING CLUB?

Ever considered creating your own gardening club in your local area? Justine Dixon from Hook in East Yorkshire did just that. Lincoln University journalism student Emily Collins caught up with her to get the lowdown on how she did it and how you can do it too
Justine began the club nine years ago and since then it has grown tremendously

Hook is a village like many others. Small, quiet and with an ageing population due to young people moving away to bigger places. Such villages can be lonely places for older people, isolated from transport links and with fewer recreational activities on offer. But thanks to Justine Dixon, 46, Hook now has a gardening club, providing green-fingered advice and a social space for villagers. Justine began the club nine years ago. “I wanted to meet like-minded people to share gardening tips with and give the villagers something to do,” she remembers.
