HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS are hoping for a French renaissance for their Super League season after a shock win over Catalans Dragons in heatwave conditions in Perpignan.
The Giants had been written off before the game, with everyone expecting a routine home win for the league leaders. But coach Ian Watson never doubted the ability of his players and while the chants of ‘Fartown, Fartown’ rang out at the Brutus as his players applauded the 300-strong travelling support, the Huddersfield chief beamed with pride.
Watson said: “I’ve been saying all of the time that we have a good group of players; it’s just that we’ve had a hell of a lot of adversity.
“We were more than well up for this game and we’ve always had that kind of performance in us. We went out there tonight to right a few wrongs.
