JANE STROUD RECOMMENDS
Hubert de Watrigant Three Jockeys, gouache, 81/4x9in. (21x23cm) t

Free spirit

Self-taught artist, Hubert de Watrigant was born in 1954 in the south west of France where his father bred and trained racehorses, and Hubert has been sketching and painting horses ever since. Working in charcoal, pastel, watercolour and oil on many different surfaces, this exhibition brings together a whole range of the artist’s work, not just horses, but other animals too, as well as interiors and people. What they all have in common is an impressionistic approach to capturing a moment in time and the transient effects of light.

Hubert de Watrigant’s solo exhibition can be seen at Osborne Studio Gallery, 2 Motcomb Street, Belgravia, London SW1, from 6 to 29 November. Visit www.osg.uk.com
