While on study leave in Rome the Rev Chris Wallace, minister at Kirkmaiden and Stoneykirk in the Presbytery of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright, met a group of New Zealanders who would be coming to Scotland in the footsteps of the St Ninian in April. They arranged to be welcomed by Chris at Cairnryan off the ferry from Belfast and accompanied on their way to Whithorn to mark Anzac day (the national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand).
Due to a blip in timings the trip to Whithorn wasn’t possible and a detour was made to Sandhead Church where the pilgrims led a moving commemoration of Anzac Day in the Sanctuary, in both English and Maori.
