The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) expressed ‘regret’ at the decision by the US administration in September to cut its funding for six East Jerusalem Hospitals, including the LWF’s Augusta Victoria Hospital (AVH).
The Rev Dr Martin Junge, General Secretary of the Lutheran World Federation, said: “The funding to the East Jerusalem Hospital Network is critical to ensure ongoing, lifesaving treatment for patients from the West Bank and Gaza.
“The United States has made a significant investment in enabling medical care for the Palestinian people through the Augusta Victoria Hospital. We have strong support from the churches and the people of the United States. Collectively, we will continue to work hard to regain the US government support.”
