In previous columns, I’ve talked about how surprised I’ve been down the years to find a hidden gem in a load of absolutely valueless tat. This used to happen to me in the States a lot – Bananas in St. Petersburg, flimmediately springs to mind, but that’s another story…
Thse days, I travel abroad less, because there’s no need to go too far to dig up the black gold anymore – there are probably more (rare) records in the UK per capita than any other country, but I still sometimes almost fall over with amazement at what comes my way when I’m looking through people’s collections. This still happens now I’m living in the fair city of Bath.
