Can you tell us about Amyl’s early days in Melbourne?
“We were all housemates and I’d played in some other bands, but we joked about starting a band together just so we could play house parties. One time, we got home from our days doing whatever we were doing, and all the shit was set up in my room, and we just jammed a little bit, wrote some stuff, recorded it that night, made up the band name and put it out the next day. We kind of did that so we could get some gigs booked. The first EP, Giddy Up [2016], was a demo really.”
What’s the dynamic of the characters in the band?
