Going keto could help ease mental ill-health by addressing underlying health issues, a new study claims. Mental illnesses, including depression and binge-eating disorder, share underlying problems like oxidative stress and inflammation, which can be helped by switching to diets that are high in fat and low in carbohydrates. Now researchers, led by Dr Christopher Palmer from Harvard Medical School, are calling for more clinical trials to be carried out, saying that there is some “hopeful” data available to suggest that adopting a ketogenic diet can lead to improvements in a range of mental health disorders.
