Scientists have identified the best age to give up smoking. Cigarette smokers who quit before the age of 35 experience similar death rates to those who have never smoked at all, according to new research in JAMA Network Open. Those who stopped smoking at later ages saw many health benefits, but their death rates were still higher. People quitting aged 35-44 experience a 21% higher rate of death, while those quitting aged 45-54 face a 47% higher rate than non-smokers.
