It’s time to learn your kickflip from a pop shove it, as Olympic skateboarding breaks onto your television screens this summer in Tokyo. Skateboarding has developed from a 1950s sport practised on low swell days by surfers, to a deserving Olympic sport with fine-tuned athletes. ‘Street’ will be the skateboard event taking place on a course that replicates urban architecture, involving rails and benches, stairs and curbs; while ‘Park’ will be the bowl and ramps course.
