It is widely documented that the success of the Normandy Landings was largely due to the enemy’s assumption that the invasion would take place around Calais. Having realised the error, the German High Command ordered the transfer of troops and armour to provide reinforcements, one of the first to arrive being the 12th SS Panzer Division.

Having carried out some research into the type of vehicles used during this campaign, I came across various images of the Sd.Kfz.250/5 ‘Neu’ belonging to SSPz. AA 12, many of which had been subjected to various field modifications.
