MORE NUCLEAR FUN FROM REVOLUTION
Revolution Trains has also been busy developing another nuclear flask wagon, following the success of the KUA vehicles last year (winner of Model Rail’s ‘OO’ Rolling Stock Model of the Year 2021). The subject of the new model is the FNA-D ‘standard’ flask carrier, which has been introduced from 2014, replacing the previous FNA wagons dating from the 1970s. Employed to carry spent nuclear fuel from power stations across the UK to Sellafield in Cumbria for reprocessing, they’re regularly hauled by Direct Rail Services Class 66/68/88 traction.
