Great Western fans will be pleased to see the ‘King’ 4‐6‐0 return to the Hornby range, with two new versions catering for the GWR and British Railways eras, while the de-streamlined LMS ‘Coronation’ 4‐6‐2 – complete with stepped footplate and sloping firebox – gains a coat of lined BR express passenger blue livery.
The imposing rebuilt Gresley Class W1 4‐6‐4 No. 10000 is to be offered in the austere LNER wartime black livery, while the Thompson ‘L1’ 2‐6‐4T makes a welcome return, with a choice of BR mixed traffic black or Darlington Apple green with BRITISH RAILWAYS lettering and E-prefixed number. Another giant of the LNER, ‘P2’ Earl Marischal, gains Hornby’s new steam generator unit and a set of revised smoke deflectors and the collectors’ Hornby‐Dublo range is bolstered by another ‘A4’, in the form of No. 60016 Silver King in BR lined green.
The preservation era is represented by BR Class 9F No. 92203 ‘Black Prince’, while Thompson ‘B1’ Mayflower is bedecked in lined Darlington Apple green livery, with BRITISH RAILWAYS lettering. Hornby has tweaked the ‘B1’ tooling to allow Mayflower’s post-BR condition to be accurately replicated.
