FREIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

Lots of cheer for diesel‐era modellers, with the return of the ‘Sealion’ and ‘Seacow’ bogie ballast hoppers, in a variety of BR and privatisation liveries, along with a pair of ‘Trout’ twin-axle hoppers.

Released last year, the GWR ‘Loriot Y’ machinery truck makes another appearance in 2024, in the form of a BR-branded version with a die‐cast Coles crane load. An unladen option is also provided, in original GWR livery.

New wagon triple-packs feature Hornby’s attractive 20ton coke hopper, in BR grey and Stanton Iron Works livery, while the new TTA tanks (see review on page 94) are also soon to be available in new liveries, with each pack containing three individually numbered wagons.

Backscene
A picture, so they say, is worth a thousand words. Chris Leigh’s 750 words or so of Backscene are about pictures, and how they’ve been taken in the past 60 years.
