Q I enjoyed reading about how Peter Marriott created his snow scene in the January issue, but can he tell us how he created the snow-covered trees in the background?
Ray Harris
Peter says: In the past I have made winter trees from sea moss, but this time I thought I would experiment with plastic tree armatures that are readily available from C&L Finescale, Noch, WW Scenics and Woodland Scenics.
I had to hand a Noch tree ‐making kit, which contains 25 individual plastic tree armatures, ranging between 40-80mm tall. These are slightly different to the Woodland Scenics packs, in that they do not require any bending and shaping. The Noch instructions state that all you need to do is brush the armature with glue and cover them with flock powder.
However, for this winter scene, there was no need for the greenery.
