Frustratingly, it was the day after last month’s issue went off to the printers that I finally unearthed my missing fine-tipped calligraphy pen and white ink, which I’d been searching for over the previous couple of weeks.
This is the means with which I prefer to add lettering and numbers to scruffy old freight and Departmental wagons, as pristine decals often look incongruous. Indeed, all of the prototype images that informed my model showed that the ‘Salmon’ wagons had been branded fairly roughly with a pot of paint and brush, presumably during minor repair work.
