Industry Gurus NICHE AUDIO

Niche Audio has supplied an incredible sample pack worth £50 on this month’s cover DVD. Here, we catch up with the company’s Chris Cowie and Matt Pelling to give us an insight into how it was put together…

MT Industry Gurus Niche Audio

Niche Audio is a sample production label, which produces bespoke audio for many genres of dance music. The company concentrates on making its collections the best possible quality and tailors them for the two icons of electronic music production: Native Instruments’ Maschine and Ableton Live.

As you might expect with dance music as the main market, Niche concentrates on one-shot drums, bass, music and FX packs and provides custom-built kits, which include both project files and patterns with all collections, as they say, “mixed and engineered with precision, allowing you total flexibility and inspiration to take your music to the next level”. We speak to founders of the company Chris Cowie and Matt Pelling to find out more…

MusicTech: Tell us a little about what you both do in the company?

Chris Cowie: My role is to ensure the quality is high and the genre authentic, in terms of the kits sound as if they could be the backbone for a commercial record. I have also made a number of packs myself. Matt Pelling: My role is to help with the marketing and direction of the company, and to identify opportunities that might allow us to push our sounds to a wider audience, whether that’s to work with new audio partners, mobile apps, or licensing.

“We want our users to be able toload any kitfromany of our packsand getsomething happening very quickly”
