THE BUYER
The New Craftsmen started life in 2012 in a London garage—a very upmarket garage, near the Connaught hotel in Mayfair. Natalie Melton, one of its three co-founders, filled the garage with some of the most desirable homeware in town, helping young and talented British craft-makers reach the London market.
They now sell online and from a showroom in North Row, close to the original shop, with a network that includes more than 100 different makers. Melton’s range is varied—you might find jewelry one week, toys the next—but it quickly becomes clear when talking to her that she loves and understands materials almost as much as the men and women whose work she promotes.
