PARTING SHOT
IN 2015, AN ANONYMOUS PERSON (OR GROUP) STARTED A TWITTER account called @dasharez0ne. It has more than 89,000 followers and has spent more than a year tweeting out relatable memes about life’s annoyances. The fictional character that “runs” Da Share Z0ne is a skeleton. Its name, obviously, is Admin, and Admin has many strong opinions about topics, including weed (it should be legal everywhere), immigration, sexual consent and safe spaces. As the account has proclaimed, “SHARE Z0NE IS FOR EVERYBODY BITCH!!!!”
The account might strike some as a fearful indicator of the death of spelling and grammar, but the creator(s) does seem to have a bony skeleton finger on the pulse of the internet. On January 22, Da Share Z0ne announced a trading card game, the Devil’s Level, funded by a Kickstarter campaign that is well on its way to earning $110,000. Admin agreed to answer a few questions from Newsweek in character. The responses—which come in all caps regardless of whom Admin is talking to—are unedited.
