BILL CLARK/CQ ROLL CALL/GETTY
Washington, D.C.— Senate pages carry the mahogany boxes holding the 2016 presidential electoral ballots through the U.S. Capitol rotunda into the House chamber on January 6. The ballots were counted in a joint session of Congress, and Congress then certified Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton, with Vice President Joe Biden announcing, “It is over.” On the morning the ballots were counted, Trump tweeted, “Hillary and the Dems were never going to beat the PASSION of my voters…THEY SAW A MOVEMENT LIKE NEVER BEFORE.”
