A LEGACY OF SERVITUDE Aichetou Mint M’barack with her daughter and grandchildren. As a child, she was taken from her mother and given to a family. During her time in captivity, she had eight children; two were taken and given to other masters. All were eventually freed with the help of the Initiative for the Resurgence of the Abolitionist Movement. The family now lives on the outskirts of Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania.
