Charlotte, North Carolina— The shooting death of Keith Scott, a 43-year-old black man, sparked days of protests in North Carolina’s largest city, with his family disputing police statements that he was armed with a gun when he was killed by a black officer. Under pressure from critics, the police department released several minutes of video of the incident several days after the shooting, but it was not clear from the footage whether Scott was holding a gun. Police said they approached him in his parked car after noticing he was smoking marijuana and was armed.
