Isle of Wight based artist, Sally Potter chats to us about how cleaning up her local beach inspires her
Q. Tell us about your path into art?
I have painted all my life and I’ve always been interested in art. Both my father and my maternal grandmother painted, so I guess it’s in the genes.
Q. What led you to create artwork using marine debris?
I started creating my pebble and sea glass pictures about two years ago and quit my job to pursue my true love and hobby. I would spend hours beachcombing and one day realised that I was picking up more ocean waste than pebbles and sea glass. Instead of disposing of the rubbish to be recycled, it occurred to me that I could actually make something quite beautiful out of it – and so my pictures were born.
