The denials continued for weeks but it was very obviously George Michael singing a funked-up 80s version of the Bee Gees classic, barging its way out of nowhere into the Top 10 in the summer of 1987. The faceless studio project was headed by the star’s cousin, Andros Georgiou, a producer who’d fallen on hard times. It also included his best friend, songwriter David Austin, as well as Wham! bassist Deon Estus.
