Athletes passing the downtown skyscrapers on Al Corniche. The Ooredoo Doha Marathon is Qatar’s largest massparticipation sports event with 2,400 athletes representing 83 countries. The sixth edition included elite athletes competing for prize money of $50,000 at the half-marathon distance on a 10K loop route.
As well as the race, Doha offers some enticing tourism opportunities

What makes the perfect race? For me, it’s a mixture of the course, organisation, weather and… the people. Not just the people you run with, but the helpers, marshals, even the person who places your medal around your neck. The happier they are, the happier us runners usually are.
The Ooredoo Doha Marathon and Half probably ranks in the top two races I’ve done, due to the combination of the above, but mainly because of the people.
