Mull pupils’ Africa Challenge

PUPILS at Lochdonhead and Ulva primary schools have taken part in the 90kg Challenge to help raise funds for young people in Africa.

The project sees children selling bags of fairly traded Kilombero rice to raise money to help young people in Malawi get an education. Just 90kg of the rice, at £3 per bag, is all it takes to send a child to secondary school for a year.

Argyll and Bute Council’s policy lead for education Councillor Yvonne McNeilly said: ‘The pupils at both these schools have to be commended for the hard work they have gone to for this very worthwhile cause.
