FOLLOWING its recent success with the Tesco Bags for Help grant, securing funds for a much-needed studio refurbishment, Fort William-based Nevis Community Radio has now had a grant of £10,000 confirmed. Funded by Comic Relief, through Foundation Scotland, the grant will go towards the increasing core running costs of the community station.
Comic Relief allocates money raised by its fundraising campaigns, including Red Nose Day and Sport Relief, and this cash will be put towards expenses such as staffing, equipment and general running costs for the station, including transmission sites.
A delighted Nevis Radio’s Esme Leitch said: ‘We are so grateful to be awarded such an amazing and vital sum of money – the staff and volunteers at the station work so hard to keep providing the service to Lochaber and it’s great to see it being acknowledged as an important cause to fund by such a respected funder. We cannot say thank you enough to Comic Relief and Foundation Scotland.’
