A 20-YEAR-OLD Romanian man had difficulty appreciating different social and cultural attitudes between Scotland and his home country, Oban Sheriff Court heard last week.
Marcell Grigoreanu, now living at London Road, Glasgow, but who previously lived in the Barcaldine area, had sentence deferred until January 30 for an incident on November 12 last year, when he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl on Station Road in Oban by touching her on the body and seizing hold of her clothing.
His defence agent said the incident had arisen ‘regarding the cultural differences’ between the two countries, in the norms of conduct between males and young females.
