SOME Oban Sea Cadets recently attended a weekend of intensive boating instruction in Inverness.
It was a superb weekend of fun and practical instruction on power boat handling and canoeing. They also took part in a rowing competition, but were unfortunately beaten at the preliminary stage by an astonishing performance from Campbeltown Sea Cadets, who went on to take second place in the overall event.
Congratulations to Cadet Chloe Campbell, 1st Class Cadet Kate Home, 1st Class Cadet Connor George, and 1st Class Cadet Aaron McCall, who successfully completed their RYA Level 1 Power Boat. 1st Class Cadet Christopher Den Heijer completed and passed his British Canoeing qualification paddle power level 1, which was a combination of sea kayaking, river canoeing and Canadian canoe handling procedures. Oban Sea Cadets continue to provide fun and adventure activities resulting in cadets achieving quality training and gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
