Time to put islanders ahead of visitors

In recent weeks I’ve heard reports of a water shortage on South Uist – according to Scottish Water.

How can there be a shortage when it rains almost all-year-round here? It’s more likely the water is not managed properly, specifically by having it stored in reservoirs.

Would a hydro scheme in South Uist’s Hecla/Ben Mor area not be a wise investment for island residents?

This would combine water management with a power supply.

This would be a more logical use of funds than the £10 million recently spent at Lochboisdale for a marina which will only benefit a few during a brief tourist season.
