SNP MP Ian Blackford is said to have proposed a ‘win-win’ plan for the future of Highland and Island Enterprise (HIE).
The Ross, Skye and Lochaber MP has outlined a strategy which would see HIE ‘benefit from the additional resources’ provided by the new central enterprise board structure proposed by the Scottish Government, while retaining a management board and local decision making.
The government sparked anger at the end of last year after announcing a central board overseeing several enterprise organisations, which critics said damaged the locality of HIE.
