Crofting needs help to thrive

Why the commission is important: Donald Macdonald

DONALD MACDONALD, 44, is from North Uist in the Outer Hebrides.

THE Macdonald family croft has been in the family for nearly 100 years, with the tenancy being taken on by Donald Macdonald’s grandfather, Donald Macdonald, in 1924.

The croft was worked by Donald’s father until 2000, before being passed to him to work and maintain full-time in 2001.
