SNP sweeps to third poll victory

SNP CANDIDATE Michael Russell will serve a second term as Argyll and Bute MSP, the third time the SNP has won the seat.

The result came at 6.10am last Friday, about an hour later than the predicted finish.

He beat Liberal Democrat Alan Reid by nearly 6,000 votes, despite the former MP polling 7,583 votes, a 13.6 per cent increase on his party’s efforts in 2011.
