DESPITE turbulent times in Zimbabwe, the Pelandaba Orphans Charity remains steadfast in its commitment to educate the children of the African country.
The small charity, based in Ardfern, aims to raise funds solely for the purpose of paying the school fees of orphans living in and around Pelandaba, a suburb of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. With a severe drought causing disaster last year and elections coming up in 2018, the Pelandaba charity will have to overcome serious hurdles to do so, and with that aim is hosting a series of events this year.
It is currently paying for the education of 45 primary and secondary children and is managing to get money through to Zimbabwe Senator Mike Carter and charity co-ordinator Sandra Gumede to ensure these children continue to get a chance to succeed.
