Celebrating all things

THE Royal National Mòd – Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail – is a celebration of the Gaelic language, music and culture.

It is a superb annual Gaelic cultural festival which is staged by An Comunn Gàidhealach in a different location each year.

This year the Mòd returns to the Western Isles – na h-Eileanan an Iar – from October 14 to 22.

This will be the sixth time that the Mòd has been hosted in the Western Isles, with previous visits in 1979, 1989, 2001, 2005 and 2011.

It is extremely appropriate that the Mòd returns to the Western Isles as these islands are at the heart of the Gaelic language and culture. Gaelic remains the language of the community, and islands, and there is no better place to showcase Scotland’s main Gaelic festival.
