Crofting chief to fight on

CROFTING Commissioner Colin Kennedy is refusing to resign as the group’s chairman, saying he was ‘elected by crofters’ and he’ll continue to fight for their rights.

Last week in an unusual step Fergus Ewing MSP called on Mr Kennedy to resign. Mr Kennedy said ‘hell will freeze over’ before he steps down.

Mr Kennedy claimed it is the government minister is contravening crofters’ human rights by not allowing access to their own share of European cash. Mr Kennedy said: ‘The MSP should be standing down himself.’
