Police welcome jailing of violent chainsaw attacker

SENIOR police officers have welcomed the sentencing of chainsaw attacker James MacDonald on Tuesday at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Police Scotland released the following statement shortly after MacDonald was jailed for 12 years for the attack on John MacPherson and his wife Flora in July.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Sutherland said: ‘Police Scotland acknowledges the custodial sentence received by James MacDonald today.
